Upgrading fire alarm systems in Hospitals can be quite complex. These essential facilities cannot be shut down or partially closed off without putting people’s lives and wellbeing at risk. However, thanks to the power of wireless technology, Hospitals around the world can upgrade their fire alarm systems without disrupting daily operations. Hyfire’s Taurus wireless system is a shining example of how Hospitals can benefit from this technology.
Ensuring the safety of a Hospital in Italy
A Hospital in Italy, a highly significant healthcare facility with ongoing expansion plans to meet the growing needs of the population, decided to upgrade their old fire alarm system with Hyfire’s Taurus wireless alarm system. This move ensures the protection of patients and staff by aligning safety standards with higher levels.
A wired system would have required construction work, including material disposal and extensive cleaning, as well as careful planning to avoid interrupting workflow in wards and clinics. The wireless system, on the other hand, allowed for quick installation without interfering with regular hospital operations, while maintaining a high level of safety and performance.
The System that makes a difference
The team installed 230 wireless units to communicate efficiently with the control panel, a 4-loop solution capable of managing the entire system and ensuring constant monitoring of safety conditions. The installation was completed in just 7 days, thanks to the collaboration between MTE Elettronica and partner distributor MacSystem, which provided the necessary devices. This short timeframe minimised disruptions for the hospital, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services.
One of the standout features of the installed system is its ability to cover long distances: alarm signals are transmitted wirelessly from peripheral detection and alarm devices to the control panel located in the guardhouse, approximately 800 meters from the tower where the installation took place. This allows hospital staff to monitor any emergencies and respond promptly if needed.
Challenges in protecting doctors and patients
The installation posed some logistical challenges, particularly the need to adapt to the existing structure without impacting hospital operations. The benefits of this wireless solution include the speed of installation and the absence of invasive interventions, which reduced overall costs and downtime.
At the conclusion of the project, the hospital’s management expressed great satisfaction with the implemented solution. The system was installed without difficulty, and the fire safety programming was easily tailored to the hospital’s specific operational needs, in line with its internal safety protocols.
Hyfire’s innovative devices not only provide Hospitals with a state-of-the-art fire alarm system ensuring the safety of both patients and staff, but they also allow medical facilities to continue to operate throughout the installation.
