The rapid installation time of Hyfire’s wireless fire systems has allowed a famous bar and B&B to upgrade its fire protection during lockdown.
The owner of Rafter Dempsey’s, a legendary bar and restaurant in Kilkenny, Ireland, selected Hyfire’s wireless fire system as it represented the optimal choice to ensure a fixed cost and problem-free installation, requiring little time on site, no disruption to the building, and very few staff on site during lockdown.
Partnering with Hyfire, Guardian Fire & Safety completed the installation of 126 wireless devices in days, limiting disturbance to the business and to the building. The initial system survey defined exactly what devices where required where, fixing project costs and avoiding surprises or delays. The devices were easily pre-programmed off site contributing to minimize installation time, reducing the people required to install and the person to person contacts.
Brendan Stamp, Managing Director at Guardian Fire & Safety, said: “The customer needed to upgrade the dated wired system to conform to the latest governing standard and we were asked to install a new solution in a few days. The decision to use wireless was made to minimise installation time and to avoid the normal disruption of rewiring. The support and dedication of Hyfire staff was the key in securing and delivering the project on time.”
Centrally located in the heart of Kilkenny city, the Rafter Dempsey’s is a well-known hangout for local people, but it is also a renowned B&B stay for tourists, with its 16 modern ensuite bedrooms. Minimise the impact on guest experience was another important requirement to consider when completing the installation. Eliminating the need for cable and consequent remedial works, the whole process was short and painless.
Hyfire offers the widest range of commercial standard wireless fire devices on the market, ranging from optical, multi-criteria and heat detectors to notification, alarm, interface and control units, all fully certified to EN54. All products offer the highest performance and quality in the industry and are also fully compliant with BS5839 Part 1. Fire panels are wired via a loop to translators, from which wireless devices can be used on their own to build fully wireless systems of virtually any size, or mixed with Hyfire wired products to provide seamless hybrid solutions, offering total flexibility to specifiers and installers.
Chris McGregor, Regional Sales Manager at Hyfire, said: “Fire protection is a big part of any entertainment and tourism business and it must be to standard regardless of Covid-19. The tight turnaround time made wireless the obvious choice for this premise. Keeping any cabling to a minimum, the whole system was delivered within a week. The wireless installation not only was short and low impact it also preserved the existing building structure and secured project costs. Our wireless survey tool makes device positioning simple, limits the installation time onsite and guarantees system performance. The wireless devices can be quickly and easily pre-programmed offsite further increasing the speed of installation”.
All Hyfire products are developed by fire industry pioneers in Trieste, Italy, the global centre for wireless fire device design. The wireless range includes all devices required to build a fully wireless commercial fire system, including manual call points, remote indicators, visual indicators, sounders, sounder bases and output/input modules. A range of addressable translators and expanders are available, processing up to 32 devices each, with the scale of the system limited only by the number of devices that the fire panel can handle.
Gerry Rafter, owner at Rafter Dempsey’s, said: “We initially discussed two project options, rewiring the building or utilising a wireless solution. When selecting the wireless system, I was persuaded by the short installation time and by the limited disruption to the building’s fabric that would result in cost saving and minimal stress for my guests. Working with Hyfire, the Guardian Fire Team was able to guarantee installation costs and deliver the project on time”.
Hyfire was launched as Sterling Safety Systems in 2002, bringing to market some of the first commercial wireless detection and alarm devices fully certified to EN54. Since then, the Hyfire brand has become synonymous with quality, reliability and innovation in the commercial fire sector. Hyfire devices are available for Advanced or Kentec panels and come with a five-year warranty, backed up by a dedicated partner programme, to ensure the best survey, installation, commissioning, after sales service and exceptional technical support.
